Trilogy Education Names Luyen Chou as Chief Product Officer

Trilogy Education, the leading workforce accelerator, today named Luyen Chou as the company’s first Chief Product Officer. As CPO, Luyen will help lead Trilogy’s next phase of growth as the company scales its industry-leading technology training platform and programs to support learners, universities, and enterprise organizations worldwide. Drawing on over two decades of experience managing cutting-edge educational initiatives, Chou will be responsible for Trilogy’s global product vision and implementation. He will report directly into Trilogy Education’s CEO and Founder Dan Sommer.

“Chou is an accomplished edtech leader and innovator who will bring a remarkable level of experience to Trilogy’s leadership team and product function,” said Sommer. “He has a proven track record managing world-class teams to develop smart products that meet rapidly changing learner needs. Luyen understands Trilogy’s goal of closing the global digital skills gap and is passionate about building a business that will enable us to realize this mission.”

Chou joins Trilogy Education after seven years at Pearson Education, where he most recently served as Chief Product Strategy Officer, managing the company’s $6B global product portfolio strategy. In addition, Chou was instrumental in building large scale product and technology groups across Pearson, serving as SVP, Product, and Chief Product Officer. Luyen joined Pearson in 2011 through the acquisition of Schoolnet, a provider of data-driven curriculum and assessment software. Prior to Schoolnet, Chou was the Associate Head of The School at Columbia University, Executive Director of the Center for Integrated Learning and Teaching, and CEO of LearnTech, a company that develops innovative educational software tools and applications.

“During my time overseeing the product portfolio at Pearson, I learned a tremendous amount about the state of global education. I believe what Trilogy is doing is the most exciting thing happening in the industry today,” said Chou. “Together, with Dan and the team at Trilogy Education, we’ll be able to scale this company into a global leader and equip learners worldwide with the skills to thrive in the digital economy. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to make a lasting impact on people’s lives through learning.”

Since launching in 2015, Trilogy Education has empowered 37 of the world’s leading universities, from Columbia Engineering to UC Berkeley Extension, to upskill thousands of working adults through intensive training programs in coding, data analytics, UX/UI, and cybersecurity. Graduates have been hired for technology roles at over 2,000 companies, solving a growing skilled labor shortage in cities across North America.
