The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects computer science research jobs will grow 19% by 2026. As part of the second-largest staffing firm in North America, Apex sees the fierce market for junior-level talent. Not only do hiring managers want to see competency in technical skills, they also need to see professional skills. Companies are looking for employees that are able to grow into their positions, have a high level of autonomy, and are passionate about their field. Career changers are a perfect fit for this profile.

Apex created a specific program to foster this type of talent nationwide, Apex Talent University (ATU). The program offers a connection to a recruiter, technical mentorship, insider trends, informational webinars, and more. Creating a partnership with Trilogy Education was a logical step in filling ATU with passionate individuals dedicated to finding a new position.

The typical graduate of a Trilogy-powered program has several years of work experience, providing them with a level of autonomy not typically found in the recent college graduate workforce. The majority are career changers bringing new thought processes and perspectives to Apex clients. Additionally, 68% of these students have pursued degrees after high school. They are the ideal profile for a company looking to fill their IT positions from a non-traditional pool.

Through this partnership, students in Trilogy-powered boot camps are exposed to Apex’s brand through online and in-person events. Apex kicked off its quarterly series of national webinars for all university programs, outlining their company as well as educating attendees on how to work with recruiters. In September of 2019, the Apex Richmond branch hosted one of Trilogy’s first Life After Bootcamp events. Industry speakers discussed topics that affect those who have completed their certification including: career insights, best practices for navigating the industry, and resume and interview skills.

In addition to the direct engagement with students, Apex has worked with Trilogy’s Industry, Insight, and Impact team to get graduates of Trilogy-powered programs working at Fortune 500 companies all over the nation including Texas, Denver, Arizona, New York, and North Carolina. This was accomplished through a combination of local and national sourcing efforts with Apex employees embracing the partnership across the organization.
